Structure The Italian Medium USAR Team is the operational component of the Italian Government’s mission, coordinated by the Italian Civil Protection Department (ICPD) through a Head of Mission and a Mission Liaison Officer. The team is composed of organizations operating at the national and regional levels under bilateral agreements: • Italian National Fire and Rescue Service (52 personnel) • Regional Health Service (6 personnel) Team structure: • Management (16) including two Structural Engineers • Search (8) composed of two Technical Search, four K9s, and two HazMat • Rescue (16) including, Rope Rescue, Shoring and Rigging specialists • Logistics (12) including three Communications specialists • Medical (6) The team’s coordination and technical capacities adhere to the highest INSARAG standards, comparable to those of a Heavy USAR classified team, despite being deployable to only one full ASR4 worksite. The team can conduct Cultural Heritage Safeguard operations continuously for up to ten days.
